- Advice and guidance on job search techniques: The majority of enquiries stem around job search issues, these range from general job hunting enquiries such as "I want to look for a job, but I don't know what job", to "Where do I look for jobs". Hitslink has liases with Employment Services, Employment Agencies and local organisations, as well as encouraging clients to use the internet to secure employment.

- Application form filling: Guidance in filling in application forms.

- Interview preparation and techniques: Individual guidance on interview techniques is given, mock interviews and practice questions are set. If you follow the person specification , you most certainly will be in a good position to gain an interview.

- Preparing CVs: Advice and guidance on making a CV work for you. There are many types of CVs and lots to consider :- the format, whether it is a targeted CV, a professional CV or just one to record your employment and educational achievements.

- 800 general employment enquiries were received.
- 72 clients secured employment

- Rights at Work: Dismissal, non payment of wages, racial and sexual harassment, redundancy, advocacy for the employee in disputes with the employer, including representation to Industrial Tribunal level.
- Work Related Benefits : Such as Statutory Sick Pay and Statutory Maternity Pay
- Tax and National Insurance: Self assessment tax forms

- 70 Employment rights queries have been received
- 30 cases have successfully been resolved

Self Employment

- Advice and guidance on starting your own business: enquiries from young people wanting to become self employed. Business start ups have included catering, card making, cake decorating and music groups.

- Advice on funding for your business venture: information available on funding opportunities to start up your own business.

- Links with Prince's Youth Business Trust and other business organisations to help gain research grants to start the market research for potential business.

- Advice and guidance on Higher Education: guidance on Higher Education courses, including university entrance, courses throughout the U.K country, UCAS applications and general Access to higher education.

- Information on Charity Applications: guidance on how to gain charitable funding for Further and Higher Education .

- Grants and Student Welfare: information and advice on student welfare and grants , liaisons with student welfare with other colleges.

Training

- Help and Advice on further education and training courses: Training is an increasingly popular area where information is constantly changing. A plethora of NVQ's to choose from can be confusing.

- Basic skills training information: We have access to Adult Directions and Training Access Points to help make you a more informed choice. It is worth ringing the "Learning Direct" number 0800 100 900, to gain information about courses in your area.

- SRB Driving Course: Hitslink have been successful in gaining funding to run a driving course which enables Hitslink to provide driving lessons via BSM to increase employability of our clients. 6 places were offered last year.

- 500 clients have been advised on training related issues; 105 clients have gone into further education or higher education as a result of the advice given.
